President

Hi hi! I am a third year Integrative Biology and Psychology major hoping to go to med school for pediatrics. I was lucky enough to find Paper Crane my first semester at Berkeley and really enjoyed my experience! Since then I’ve continued to make art kits with this club and make new friends with a bunch of super cool people. This club has been one of the few that I’ve stuck with because of how genuine and meaningful our mission is! I highly recommend joining us if you’re at all interested because everyone here is so sweet and loves to work together to complete our goal. If you’re just visiting our page, please consider donating so we can continue to fund our kits!

Kaia Newsman

Internal Vice President

Hello! I’m a fourth year student majoring in MCB. I joined Paper Crane the fall semester of my sophomore year hoping for a creative outlet and found it to be a great community to be a part of. As a member of the arts and design committee, I enjoyed working with other club members to make art kits during meetings. Some things I enjoy: hiking, swimming, drawing, and being in the sun.

Cindy Morales

Build & Budget Lead

Hello! I am Cindy :) A third-year studying Psychology. I joined Paper Crane because of the community, the diversity, art, making children smile, and so many more reasons especially since their community values of respect and inclusion are portrayed throughout the club.

The fact that something so small as an art kit can be so meaningful at the same time for patients and the team, speaks volumes! This club is so welcoming that I am glad to be a part of the team where I keep on learning from others and build meaningful friendships.

Baani Sabharwal

Build & Budget Lead

Hi! My name is Baani and I am Build and Budget Lead for Paper Crane this year. I am a second year majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology. I joined Paper Crane fall semester of my freshman year and loved being a part of such a great community. Paper Crane has been really amazing as I get to share my passion for art with young patients at UCSF and help them just be children having fun with art during a stressful time. Part of Build and Budget, I enjoy being able to meet and work together with all the members. In my spare time, I really like sketching, reading, taking nature walks, and hanging out with friends.

Rebecca Wei

Social Chair

Hey guys! I’m a 2nd year at Berkeley majoring in IB and Art Practice and lowkey dying for it. Here’s some things I like: sleeping, eating, art, philanthropy, good deals, webtoons, kpop, dancing, good communication, paper planners, and Paper Crane. Paper Crane has been a great outlet for my creativity and mixing my interests in medicine and art! Being in the club, I’ve found a very supportive and collaborative community and I’m very proud to be part of a team that’s dedicated to giving back to the kids and the community.
Anyways, here’s some things I don’t like: 8 ams. But we still have to put up with them. :( Feel free to reach out if you want a study buddy or eating buddy! You can call me Becca or any derivation I’ll probably respond. :p

Arts and Design Lead

Hello! I am a fourth year IB major. Paper Crane is super special to me because I love how we get to bring happiness to children during a time that they need it the most. When coming up with art kit projects, I get to express my creativity along with the kids which is super fun. I am so grateful to be part of such a wonderful and loving club!

Alexa Ma

Arts and Design Lead

Hello! I'm Alexa! I'm currently a junior at UC Berkeley and studying Chemical Biology and Data Science. Paper Crane has been near and dear to my heart since freshman year – I love our mission of trying to spread one smile at a time to the kids we make art kits for and the community at Paper Crane is also so sweet and encouraging! If you are interested in making an impact in the Berkeley/Oakland community or have a passion for art/helping children, I really suggest checking out and applying to our club. Some things I do for fun outside of Paper Crane include reading the Bible, watching anime, and learning how to crochet (I'm still very bad haha)!

Emily Du

Finance Vice President

I discovered Paper Crane through a flyer in the hallowed halls of Pimentel. Other than the adorable design, I was attracted to Paper Crane’s mission of supporting hospitalized children through art. As an avid Etsy user and watcher of Korean lifestyle vlogs, I was familiar with the power that art and working with your hands has to heal, and am grateful for the opportunity to share these small but definite happinesses with children going through a hard time. Everyone in this club is very slay, and I am very glad to be a part of it!

Sarah Peykar

Community Projects Delegate

Hello! My name is Sarah, I am a third year studying Integrative Biology and Psychology. I joined Paper Crane my freshman year as part of the arts and design committee, and I am now the Community Projects Delegate. Paper Crane has enabled me to combine my love for art, medicine, and working with children. I love having the opportunity to be part of a team who is dedicated to uplifting the spirits of young patients and allowing them to find the beauty and joy in art even during some of the most challenging circumstances. If you are interested in joining a welcoming community who is passionate about making a difference in our world, I would highly recommend joining our mission in helping bring a smile to a child’s face one art kit at a time.
