President

Hi hi! I am a fourth year Integrative Biology and Psychology major hoping to go to med school for pediatrics. I was lucky enough to find Paper Crane my first semester at Berkeley and really enjoyed my experience! Since then I’ve continued to make art kits with this club and make new friends with a bunch of super cool people. This club has been one of the few that I’ve stuck with because of how genuine and meaningful our mission is! I highly recommend joining us if you’re at all interested because everyone here is so sweet and loves to work together to complete our goal. If you’re just visiting our page, please consider donating so we can continue to fund our kits!

Cindy Morales

Internal Vice President

Hello! I am Cindy :) A fourth-year studying Psychology. I joined Paper Crane because of the community, the diversity, art, making children smile, and so many more reasons especially since their community values of respect and inclusion are portrayed throughout the club.

The fact that something so small as an art kit can be so meaningful at the same time for patients and the team, speaks volumes! This club is so welcoming that I am glad to be a part of the team where I keep on learning from others and build meaningful friendships.

Baani Sabharwal

Finance Vice President

Hi! My name is Baani and I am Finance Vice President for Paper Crane this year. I am a third year majoring in Molecular Environmental Biology. I joined Paper Crane fall semester of my freshman year and loved being a part of such a great community. Paper Crane has been really amazing as I get to share my passion for art with young patients at UCSF and help them just be children having fun with art during a stressful time. Part of Build and Budget, I enjoy being able to meet and work together with all the members. In my spare time, I really like sketching, reading, taking nature walks, and hanging out with friends.

Alexa Ma

Marketing Vice President

Hello! I'm Alexa! I'm currently a senior at UC Berkeley and studying Chemical Biology and Data Science. Paper Crane has been near and dear to my heart since freshman year – I love our mission of trying to spread one smile at a time to the kids we make art kits for and the community at Paper Crane is also so sweet and encouraging! If you are interested in making an impact in the Berkeley/Oakland community or have a passion for art/helping children, I really suggest checking out and applying to our club. Some things I do for fun outside of Paper Crane include reading the Bible, watching anime, and learning how to crochet (I'm still very bad haha)!

Giselle Valadez

Social Chair

Hi! I’m Giselle Valadez! I’m currently a Junior studying Psychology and Dance/Performance Studies. I joined Paper Crane fall semester of my sophomore year. I love the purpose of this club and find it very important that young patients in hospitals feel cared for and I hope our art kits can provide happiness! I am the Social Chair and I am excited to bring our community of students together to get to know each other and share some fun! Some of my interests are: working out, singing, dancing, listening to music, and having fun with friends!

Sarah Peykar

Community Projects Delegate

Hello! My name is Sarah, I am a fourth year studying Integrative Biology and Psychology. I joined Paper Crane my freshman year as part of the arts and design committee, and I am now the Community Projects Delegate. Paper Crane has enabled me to combine my love for art, medicine, and working with children. I love having the opportunity to be part of a team who is dedicated to uplifting the spirits of young patients and allowing them to find the beauty and joy in art even during some of the most challenging circumstances. If you are interested in joining a welcoming community who is passionate about making a difference in our world, I would highly recommend joining our mission in helping bring a smile to a child’s face one art kit at a time.

Natalie Feng

Arts and Design Lead

Hello! I’m Natalie and I am a senior at Berkeley studying MCB. I first joined the club the spring semester of my junior year and fell in love with the mission, the creativity, and of course the people. Paper Crane has given me the opportunity explore the impact art has on lives, especially in regard to hospitalized children. In my free time, I love baking, playing badminton, and oil painting! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you!

Grace Ismagil

Arts and Design Lead

Hii, I’m Grace :) I’m a transfer student in my last year at Berkeley, finishing my MEB major and GPP minor. Origami has long been a meditative art form for me that I enjoy sharing, so finding Paper Crane during my first semester here was exciting. Our lovely members made the the experience so welcoming, I always look forward to our meetings throughout the semesters. I love how we get to offer an outlet anyone can use to exercise their creativity in a friendly yet professional environment for a beautiful cause. It’s such a special thing to be able to do what you love and make a positive impact on our community. Outside of Paper Crane, I mostly enjoy exploring and trying new things with my friends or even alone, film and tv, music 24/7, cooking/baking, rollerblading, shopping, sudoku, and self-care. :)

Ashley Lau

Arts and Design Lead

Hi! I’m a third year Molecular and Cellular Biology major. I joined Paper Crane in my freshman year at Berkeley, and even though it’s one of the first clubs I’ve joined it’s also one of the few I’ve remained very involved in. Paper Crane has been a great place to meet new people, express my creativity and (most importantly!) give back to our community by helping hospitalized kids express themselves too.
I like to read, craft and watch terrible amounts of YouTube. If you have any questions or want a crafting buddy outside of club general meetings, feel free to reach out! ^^

Suha Vallyani

Cut and Craft Lead

Hi! My name is Suha, I’m a fourth year MCB major. I joined Paper Crane in fall of my sophomore year because I loved and connected with the club’s mission and community outreach. Volunteering and working with local community has always been important to me and art has been apart of my life as a creative outlet since childhood. I have had a great time being a part of the club thus far because of the amazing people I have met and the fact that  we are working to help make the days of the children at UCSF a little brighter. Some things I love outside of Paper Crane are reading (romance/fantasy), and binging new shows.
